Mowgli

"All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all." - an Anglican hymn

Christmas is a time for family and those closest to you.  I've always considered the five dogs (Duke, Bear, Mowgli, Oliver and Wrigley) that live with us as family members, so it breaks my heart to post my sad news.  Today I found out that my sweet Mowgli, one of my family's Australian Shepherds, has an auto immune disease that will end his life.
Mowgli came to live with us five years ago around this time, so it doesn't seem right to be saying goodbye now.  It could be an hour or it could be a day, we don't know when the Lord will take him.  But as I sit, keeping vigil over Mowgli as we wait, I keep my eyes on our Christmas tree.  In all this sadness that looms over us now, I hold close to those things that are warm and positive in my life.  As I run my fingers through his fur, I count my blessings. Mowgli has loved being a scavenger and trash can diver.  He has always been a strong believer in second breakfasts, elevenses, supper, pre- dinner dinners, and post dinner dinners.  He has been a great friend to our other dogs, and a great hunter when cats or possums get in the yard. Mowgli has been a great friend, snuggler and playmate. Mowgli is one of my blessings.
Some people will argue about doggie heaven, and I'm certainly not up for a debate on that subject. But, I'm comforted knowing that when it's time for God to call Mowgli home, that our sweet Mowgli will be healthy again.  We will miss him.

Inner munchkin

I think the reason I love working with mosaic glass is that it speaks to my inner child.  The puzzle pieces never have to fit perfectly and I get to play with sharp breakables and put mud all over them.
